Taking place on 13 and 14 February 2026, the Horizon International Festival will feature Spanish filmmaker Perohé Pètxs Prat and musician Carly Gibert, showcasing award-winning short films and genre-blending live performances, further reinforcing Cairo’s role as a regional hub for global creative exchange.

Perohé Pètxs Prat will screen her short film Three Seas, which explores themes of identity, memory, and personal experience. Her work is known for its poetic style, blending documentary techniques with elements of fiction.

Pètxs Prat studied at the School of Grammar and Audiovisuals in Catalonia before continuing her training at the National Film School in Dublin. Her films have received several awards, including the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia Award for her first documentary.

Her short film My Child also won the Best Short Fiction Film award at the First Frames Festival in 2025. In addition to the screening, she will take part in post-film discussions to explain her creative process, inspirations, and narrative approach.

On the music front, multi-talented artist Carly Gibert will headline the festival’s closing concerts at the garden of the French Institute in Cairo. Originally from Cambrils in Catalonia, she is known for her versatility, blending pop, hip-hop, house, and experimental electronic music, while maintaining full creative control over her sound and visuals.

She began her professional career at a young age and later expanded internationally during her time in Los Angeles.

Today, she has a growing global following across digital streaming platforms and online media. At the festival, she will present a live performance combining music, visual effects, and stage production.

The Horizon International Festival continues to build its reputation as a key platform for young filmmakers from Europe and beyond, aiming to promote creative exchange, professional networking, and new approaches to storytelling in contemporary short cinema.

This year's edition of the festival, a global platform dedicated to short films and emerging voices in contemporary cinema, includes film screenings, panel discussions with industry professionals, and musical performances. This underlines the festival’s multi-disciplinary character and its support for a more diverse and innovative audiovisual scene.
