El-Sisi promoted the Commander of the Egyptian Navy, Mahmoud Adel Mahmoud Fawzi, to the rank of vice admiral, and the Commander of the Egyptian Air Force, Amr Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Rahman Saqr, to the rank of air marshal.
Earlier in the day, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, the former director of the Egyptian Military Academy, was sworn in before El-Sisi as minister of defence and military production in the new government headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, following approval by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces.
