Salah registered his 92nd Premier League assist for Liverpool when he delivered the decisive corner that Virgil van Dijk headed home in the 61st minute at Anfield, matching Gerrard’s total.

The 32-year-old winger once again played a key role as Liverpool secured a narrow victory to strengthen their push for a top-four finish.

“He has so many records for this club, but to have this one combined with such a great player,  both were unbelievable players for this club,” Slot said.

“Unfortunately for Steven, I expect Mo to go above him. I don’t expect, but I hope he goes above him,” he added.

The result leaves Liverpool sixth on 42 points, two behind fifth-placed Chelsea and three adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United.
