Tottenham Hotspur's French midfielder #28 Wilson Odobert (R) leaves the pitch injured during the English Premier League football match between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. AFP
The France under-21 international suffered the injury in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Newcastle that brought Thomas Frank's reign as Tottenham boss to an end.
"Wilson will see a specialist next week before undergoing surgery, and will then commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff," Tottenham said in a statement.
Spurs sit 16th in the Premier League, just five points above the relegation zone, and risk being dragged into a fight for survival after just two league wins in 17 games.
Frank's chances of success were not aided by a lengthy injury list throughout his time in charge.
Spurs were without 11 first-team players through injury and suspension for the Newcastle game even prior to Odobert's misfortune.
Tottenham are not in action again until February 22 when they host Premier League leaders Arsenal in the north London derby.
