Kuwaiti Ambassador to Cairo, Ghanem Saqr Al-Ghanem, affirmed that Kuwaiti-Egyptian relations have developed significantly, reaching their highest level under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait, and President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
Al-Ghanem’s remarks were delivered during a reception hosted by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Kuwait’s National Day and the 35th anniversary of its Liberation Day.
The event was attended by Ambassador Talal Khaled Al-Mutairi, Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the Arab League, and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, who represented Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The gathering also drew a significant presence of senior officials, public figures, and members of the international diplomatic and consular corps.
The ambassador characterized the historical relationship between Kuwait and Egypt as one built on mutual trust and a shared destiny. He noted that this bilateral cooperation, which dates back to the early 20th century, is currently defined by a close alignment of strategic visions regarding regional challenges.
Al-Ghanem explained that the personal ties between the leaderships of both nations have helped formalize this bond into a multifaceted partnership that both sides are actively working to expand and diversify.
In tracing the milestones of this relationship, Al-Ghanem highlighted Egypt's historical support for Kuwaiti development and its decisive role during the 1990 invasion and subsequent liberation. He noted that these actions are mirrored by Kuwait’s consistent support for Egypt, specifically citing the 1967 war and the October 1973 victory.
He emphasized that the shared sacrifices of Kuwaiti and Egyptian forces on the Sinai Peninsula remain a testament to the depth of their bilateral ties.
Extending his congratulations to the Kuwaiti leadership and the diaspora in Egypt, Al-Ghanem remarked that such national occasions serve to reinforce the values of loyalty and pride in the country's history.
Representing the Egyptian government, Dr. Sherif Farouk affirmed that history recognizes the pivotal moments of cooperation that have defined the Egyptian-Kuwaiti journey over several decades. He described the relationship as a benchmark for constructive Arab integration.
Furthermore, Farouk noted a mutual commitment to bolster economic partnerships and trade to better navigate modern global challenges. The evening concluded with a documentary film and musical performances that highlighted Kuwaiti heritage and the evolution of its ties with Egypt.
