In an interview with Al Jazeera, Abdelatty urged adherence to US President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan, warning against selective implementation.

He said the plan consists of 20 interconnected points and cautioned that focusing on some provisions while ignoring others would undermine the process.

Abdelatty stressed that an Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip into a buffer zone is “an integral part” of the plan, adding that the main challenge lies in what he described as Israeli obstacles to implementation.

Egypt is in contact with Washington, one of the agreement’s guarantors, to address these impediments, he said.

The minister also spoke of “innovative ideas” under discussion to address arms control in Gaza through Palestinian consensus and within what he described as a Palestinian national framework.

Abdelatty called for increased international pressure to remove obstacles to the entry of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and mobile housing units into the enclave.

Concerning Sudan, Abdelatty said Saturday that Cairo “cannot accept” equating the Sudanese national army and state institutions with what he described as illegal militias.

He stressed the need to withdraw all mercenaries from Sudan and halt support for militias and the flow of weapons into the country.

He also underlined that Egypt categorically rejects any attempts to divide Sudan, describing the continuation of the current situation as “unacceptable in any way” for Cairo.

Abdelatty also said Egypt has “red lines” regarding Sudan, warning that crossing them would prompt a “decisive, firm, and strong response.” He noted that regional and international frameworks are working on a roadmap for Sudan that includes a ceasefire and a comprehensive political process.

On Somalia, the foreign minister stressed that the country’s territorial integrity is of paramount importance, adding that any attempt to divide Somalia cannot be tolerated.

He further revealed that Egypt intends to deploy troops as part of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
