Egypt intelligence chief meets Libya’s Haftar in Benghazi

Head of Egypt’s General Intelligence Service Major General Hassan Rashad met on Sunday with Libyan National Army (LNA) Commander-in-Chief Khalifa Haftar in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, in the presence of LNA Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar.

Upon arrival in Benghazi, Rashad and his accompanying delegation were received by LNA Deputy Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar.

During the meeting, Rashad conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to Haftar, praising the development of relations between the two sides and stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between Egypt and Libya.

The discussions addressed local and regional developments, with both sides underscoring the need to maintain open communication and coordination to advance the shared interests of the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Haftar expressed his appreciation and respect for President El-Sisi and the Egyptian people.

He also extended his congratulations on the occasion of the approaching holy month of Ramadan, wishing prosperity and blessings to the Arab and Islamic nations.
