During the meeting, Madbouly stressed the need to establish clear and practical methods to carry out the presidential directives, which highlight the importance of keeping public opinion fully informed through a national media capable of reaching all segments of society and delivering professional and responsible content.

He said national media should help raise public awareness of the challenges facing the country, counter rumours, promote constructive dialogue, encourage sound thinking, and respect differing opinions.

Madbouly added that the directives provide a framework for the ministry’s work in the coming phase, focusing on building a professional government communication system based on transparency, speed, and effective handling of emerging events.

He said this framework also includes simplifying purposeful messages and delivering clear, accurate, and objective explanations of economic and social decisions.

Madbouly stressed the necessity of ongoing coordination with relevant media authorities to ensure integration and cohesion between the ministry and these bodies while preserving their independence, as guaranteed by the constitution, and providing a common ground for discussion on various national issues.

He said this coordination aims to strengthen the role of Egyptian media and improve its ability to communicate with citizens through simple, effective messages that respect the country’s values and traditions and include all segments of society.

Madbouly reaffirmed the state’s commitment to freedom of expression and opinion, as guaranteed by the constitution and law, and to maintaining objectivity, neutrality, and respect for social values.

He also congratulated Rashwan on his appointment, saying the return of the media ministry in the new government formation reflects the importance the state attaches to national media and its role in effective communication and strengthening Egyptian identity and enlightened culture.

He expressed great confidence that the ministry will serve as a vital link for effective communication with various media outlets, delivering media worthy of Egypt, its stature, and its citizens.

For his part, Rashwan thanked President El-Sisi for the confidence placed in him and expressed appreciation to Madbouly for his support.

He said he is committed to implementing the presidential directives and to building a high-standard professional media that respects neutrality, presents diverse views, and addresses citizens’ concerns, especially amid regional challenges and the spread of rumours.

Rashwan emphasized adherence to responsible freedom, respect for freedom of opinion and expression, and cooperation among all journalistic and media actors to enhance overall media performance.

He announced plans to improve media standards and expand attention to digital media in line with the state’s broader digital transformation efforts. He added that work will continue to improve the performance of media offices across ministries and strengthen coordination with official spokespeople and media advisers.

Rashwan said training programmes for media office staff will be intensified under the ministry’s supervision, including specialized courses for official spokespeople to improve communication with different media outlets.

He added that a meeting will be held on Tuesday with the heads of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, the National Press Authority, and the National Media Authority to discuss cooperation and coordination, in line with the ministry’s mandate and the constitutional powers of these bodies.

Another meeting will also take place the same day with delegations from the Journalists’ Syndicate, led by Khaled El-Balshy, and the Media Syndicate, led by Tarek Saada, to explore ways to enhance professional standards and cooperation in line with legal and constitutional provisions.

He said communication will continue with private and digital media outlets to gather feedback and suggestions to improve media performance in the interest of society.

Rashwan also stressed the importance of engaging with foreign media coverage to ensure that Egypt’s perspective is clearly presented on issues concerning the country.
