In remarks to guests, Šestović highlighted the strengthening Egyptian-Serbian bilateral relations, referencing President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Belgrade in 2022 and the subsequent agreements between the two countries.
He said relations between Egypt and Serbia are grounded in “mutual respect and understanding” and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in regional diplomacy, particularly its efforts related to the Palestinian issue.
“Being the nonresident Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the State of Palestine, allow me to express admiration for Egypt’s relentless efforts and pivotal contribution to the coordinated efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace by recognizing the legitimate interests and rights of the Palestinian people in accordance with relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions,” Šestović stated.
The ambassador also thanked embassy staff and members of the Serbian community in Egypt, noting he was concluding a four-year posting in Cairo.
Serbia celebrates its National Day on 15 February, marking the adoption of the country’s first modern constitution in 1835.
