Title holders Zamalek exit Egypt Cup after 2-1 defeat to Ceramica Cleopatra

Zamalek were eliminated from the Egypt Cup round of 16 after a 2-1 defeat to Ceramica Cleopatra FC at Suez authority stadium in Ismailia on Tuesday.

Ceramica Cleopatra took an early lead when Zamalek defender Hossam Abdel-Maguid deflected the ball into his own net in the 18th minute.

The Egypt Cup title holders, Zamalek equalised just before halftime, with Mohamed Ismail scored in an empty net, following a blunder from Ceramica keeper Mohamed Bassam inside the area.

Moroccan midfielder Ahmed Belhadji sealed the win for Ceramica Cleopatra in the 70th minute with a well-placed strike from outside the area, sending his side into the quarter-finals.

Ceramica Cleopatra will face Talae El-Gaish in the last eight.
