The Foreign Ministry said the situation risks spiraling into a wider conflict with serious consequences for regional and international security. “Total chaos” could ensue, the statement warned, with potentially disastrous effects on stability and peace.

Cairo stressed that political and peaceful solutions remain essential, saying military action would only fuel further violence and bloodshed. Diplomacy and dialogue, it added, are the only viable paths to lasting security.

The ministry also condemned Iran’s retaliatory attacks as “violations of the sovereignty of several Arab states,” including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. Egypt called on all parties to respect the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Arab countries, and to exercise maximum restraint to avoid further escalation.

The statement came hours after the US and Israel launched major combat operations against Iran, halting ongoing negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear programme. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting Israel and American assets in the Gulf.
