The Arab League on Saturday condemned Iranian missile attacks on Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, calling them a blatant violation of the sovereignty of states that it said were not party to the conflict.

In a statement, the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States expressed full solidarity with the affected countries and backed their right to take measures to defend themselves and protect their populations.

The bloc said Arab states had previously rejected military action against Tehran and had worked to mediate and prevent escalation. It warned that the current confrontation carries serious risks for the wider region.

The statement urged all influential international actors to move quickly to contain the crisis, prevent further instability and violence, and return to dialogue.

The condemnation comes amid rapidly escalating tensions following US and Israeli strikes on Iran earlier on Saturday, which have triggered retaliatory attacks from Tehran against Israel and American assets in the Gulf.
