During the call, El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s position, which calls for dialogue and peaceful solutions to regional crises, warning of the serious consequences if the escalation pushes the region into more chaos.

He commended Oman’s important role in mediating and facilitating negotiations between the United States and Iran on the Iranian nuclear file.

El-Sisi also affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Arab countries affected by Iranian attacks and stressed Egypt’s rejection of any threat to the security, sovereignty, and stability of Arab states.

He also confirmed Egypt’s support for measures taken by those countries to protect their security and citizens.

Sultan Haitham also expressed appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance on peaceful conflict resolution and its efforts to contain current tensions, highlighting the long-standing fraternal relations between the two countries.

According to the Egyptian presidency, both sides agreed to continue consultation and coordination to help contain the current escalation and prevent further regional instability.

The call comes after the Omani port and an oil tanker off its coast were attacked earlier Sunday, marking the first strikes on Oman since it mediated US-Iran talks.

The attacks come as part of Iran’s retaliation campaign targeting US military presence in the Gulf, in response to earlier US-Israeli strikes on Iran on Saturday that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior officials, along with at least 133 civilians, including more than 100 children at a girls’ elementary school.
