“El-Ashry apologized for not completing his mission with the club and agreed with management to leave amicably,” the club said in a statement on its official Facebook page.
El-Ashry’s departure comes after just under a month in charge of the coastal club. He was appointed on 25 January, succeeding Algerian coach Miloud Hamdi following a run of poor results.
With the team under mounting pressure in the Egyptian Premier League, the 61-year-old El-Ashry managed the Dervishes in five matches, conceding four losses and one draw.
Saturday’s loss to Gouna deepened Ismaily’s struggles, leaving the team at the bottom of the league table with 11 points from 19 matches. Zamalek currently leads the table with 37 points from 17 matches.
El-Ashry is a veteran coach with extensive experience in the Egyptian league, having guided numerous local clubs during his career, including Haras El Hodoud, ENPPI, Arab Contractors, Wadi Degla, Masry, Smouha, Pharco, and Ittihad of Alexandria.
