One person has been killed and 32 others injured in Kuwait, the health ministry said on Sunday, since the start of Iran's retaliation campaign against US and Israeli strikes that killed its supreme leader.
Health ministry spokesman Abdullah Al-Sanad said 32 people, all of them foreigners, had been injured since Saturday, and "one death was reported."
Gulf countries will convene Sunday evening to discuss a unified response to Iran's attacks, two Gulf diplomats said, as Tehran presses on with a second day of strikes after US and Israeli attacks killed its supreme leader.
"It will be an online meeting of GCC foreign ministers due to the airport closures," a Gulf diplomat told AFP, requesting anonymity. He said the discussions will revolve around the "Iranian attacks on Gulf states and coordination on a unified response." Another Gulf diplomat confirmed the information.
Three people have been killed and 58 others injured in the UAE since Iran began its retaliatory campaign in the Gulf in response to US and Israeli attacks, authorities said.
The UAE has detected 165 ballistic missiles, destroying 152, and intercepted two cruise missiles, its defence ministry said. A total of "541 Iranian drones were detected, 506 of which were intercepted and destroyed," the ministry added in a statement.
The attacks resulted in the deaths of three people of Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationality, it said.
On Sunday morning, AFP correspondents heard blasts in Dubai, Doha, and Manama, with explosions heard later in Riyadh as Iran pressed its second day of attacks in response to US and Israeli strikes that killed the country's supreme leader and other top officials.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior said 16 people were injured, with limited material damage reported in some areas.
Bahrain’s state media also reported that air defences intercepted at least 45 missiles and nine drones overnight. Smoke was seen rising near the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Manama.
In Oman, a security source reported that the commercial port of Duqm was targeted by two drones, according to the Oman News Agency.
"One drone struck a mobile workers' accommodation, injuring one foreign worker, while debris from the other landed near fuel tanks, causing no casualties or material damage," it added.
Shortly after, Oman said an oil tanker was targeted off the coast. Its crew was evacuated, and four of them were injured, the news agency reported.
