The Alexandria-based club earlier announced that coach Ahmed Khatab had left following Monday’s 2-0 home defeat by bottom side Kahrabaa Ismailia.

Ismaily said on Monday they had parted ways amicably with El-Ashry due to a run of poor results.

The 61-year-old oversaw five matches during his six-week tenure at Ismaily, failing to secure a win. The team drew one and lost four.

El-Ashry returns for his second stint at Pharco FC, having previously taken charge of the side in 2023.

Pharco FC are second from bottom in the standings with 14 points, three ahead of last-placed Ismaily.

Under the league’s current format, the top seven teams advance to a mini-league to determine the champions, while the remaining 14 sides compete separately to decide the four relegation places.
