"The decision to play the game behind closed doors comes after a ruling by the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football ordering the match to be played without fans in attendance," Esperance said in a statement.
The first leg of the quarter-final will be played in Tunisia on Sunday, 15 March at Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Rades.
The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, 21 March at Cairo International Stadium, where Ahly will host the decisive second leg.
Ahly are awaiting an official decision from CAF after the governing body referred incidents during their Champions League match against Morocco’s AS FAR to its disciplinary board for investigation.
Ahly were held to a goalless draw by FAR Rabat on Sunday as both teams advanced to the quarter-finals of Africa’s premier club competition.
During the match, Ahly supporters threw a large number of water bottles onto the pitch, while videos showed fans of both teams exchanging thrown objects in the stands.
After the match, FAR lodged an official complaint with CAF, calling on the governing body to impose heavy sanctions on Ahly.
