Magnitude 4.7 earthquake recorded north of Rashid: NRIAG

Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) announced that its seismic monitoring stations recorded a moderate earthquake early Friday morning north of the Mediterranean coastal city of Rashid.

According to a statement issued by the institute, the earthquake occurred at 7:35:23am local time on 6 March 2026, with a magnitude of 4.73 on the Richter scale.

The tremor was recorded at a location approximately 395 kilometres north of Rashid, at a depth of 45.22 km, the statement added.

NRIAG said that no reports have been received indicating that the quake was felt, nor have any casualties or property damage been reported so far.
