The syndicate’s activities committee invites journalists and designers to submit entries published over the past year.
Mohamed Yehia, the syndicate’s undersecretary for activities, said newspaper layout remains a central element of professional journalism because it shapes how news is presented and understood by readers.
The competition covers work published in printed newspapers, including special editions and thematic files, as well as magazine issues and documentary books produced by national and private media organizations.
Applicants are required to submit three printed copies of journalistic work published in 2025, or one printed copy in the case of documentary books. Submissions must be delivered to the Press Services Center by 15 March.
The award is sponsored by Magdy Mounir, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram and chairman of the award’s board of trustees.
The prize is named after Yehia Zahran, a pioneer of newspaper layout in Egypt, and aims to recognize innovation and professional standards in the design and presentation of print journalism.
