Egypt strongly condemned on Sunday the attacks carried out by Israeli settlers against Palestinian citizens in the West Bank, which resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, describing this as a serious escalation of violence targeting civilians and a clear violation of international law.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed that Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, are illegal and constitute a flagrant breach of international law.

Cairo also condemned the continued closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli occupation authorities, which has prevented worshippers from accessing it for several consecutive days. The ministry said this represents a violation of the legal and historical status of Jerusalem.

The ministry reiterated Egypt’s warning about the dangers these escalatory policies pose to regional security and stability.

Earlier on Sunday, three Palestinians were killed during an Israeli settler attack in the occupied West Bank, marking the second deadly incident reported in recent days.

Violence in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967, has increased sharply since Israel's genocidal war on Gaza began in October 2023.
