The deaths of the Kuwaiti personnel, announced by the Kuwait Fire Force earlier on Sunday, came amid rising military escalation in the Middle East.

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FM Abdelatty also held separate phone calls with several Arab and European counterparts, including Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot, and Luxembourgish Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel.

During the calls, the ministers discussed the rapidly developing situation in the Middle East amid the military escalation and its security, economic, and political consequences at the regional and global levels.

FM Abdelatty emphasized the importance of regional and international efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and prioritize political solutions, dialogue, and diplomacy to spare the region further turmoil.

He warned of the risks associated with expanding military operations that could compromise the security and stability of the entire region.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm rejection and condemnation of attacks on the sovereignty and security of Arab states, stressing that the security of Arab countries is indivisible.

He said there is no justification for such attacks and called for their immediate halt to prevent the region from descending into further chaos.

The European ministers also praised Egypt’s efforts to help evacuate their citizens and other foreign nationals stranded in the region through Egyptian territory.

According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the ministers agreed on the necessity of maintaining close coordination and consultation in the coming period.

Abdelatty’s calls come as part of Cairo’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to contain regional escalation, as the US-Israeli war on Iran intensifies, now entering its second week, with Tehran continuing its retaliatory strikes against US, Israeli, and British military assets in the region.
