The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), the national coordination body for Gaza aid, said the convoy included essential winter items to help Palestinians cope with harsh weather conditions, including 3,640 clothing items, 13,920 mattresses, and 1,135 tents.
Under the Zad Al-Ezza: From Egypt to Gaza initiative, the convoy also delivered 1,530 tons of food parcels and flour, 525 tons of relief and personal hygiene supplies, and 1,625 tons of fuel to support hospitals and essential facilities in Gaza.
This comes as Israel reopened the Karm Abu Salem border crossing last week, after it closed all crossings in Gaza for “security measures” during its military escalation with Iran.
The Rafah border crossing is also closed now on the Palestinian side after nearly a month of opening, which allowed several injured Palestinians and patients to travel to Egypt for medical treatment and residents to return to Gaza.
Since October 2023, Egypt has served as Gaza’s main lifeline, delivering over 800,000 tons of aid, around 70 percent of all assistance sent to the strip, supported by more than 65,000 ERC volunteers.
Meanwhile, Israel has continued its genocidal war on Gaza, violating the ceasefire agreement brokered by Egypt, the US, Qatar, and Turkey in October.
This war has killed over 70,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured more than 170,000 others.
