Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has declared the period from Thursday, 19 March, to Monday, 23 March, an official paid holiday for employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, and public sector and public business sector companies on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, according to a cabinet statement on Wednesday.

The decision grants workers in state administrative bodies and public-sector entities a five-day break to mark the Islamic holiday, which comes at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Eid Al-Fitr is one of the two major Islamic festivals observed by Muslims worldwide and is traditionally marked by prayers, family gatherings, and public celebrations.

In Egypt, the government typically declares several days of official leave for public-sector employees to coincide with the holiday.
