The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), the national coordination body for aid delivery to Gaza, said the convoy carried 1,560 tons of food parcels and flour, 400 tons of relief supplies, and 860 tons of fuel to keep hospitals and vital facilities operating in Gaza.
Launched under the “Zad Al-Ezza… From Egypt to Gaza” initiative, the convoy also carried essential winter supplies to alleviate harsh weather conditions in the strip, including 8,400 clothing items, 56,900 blankets, 9,600 mattresses, and 17,512 mats.
The Egyptian convoy comes as part of Cairo’s steadfast commitment to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people amidst Israel’s ongoing violation of the Gaza ceasefire deal, which was brokered by Egypt, the US, Qatar, and Turkey in October 2025.
Since October 2023, Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has killed over 72,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, wounded more than 171,000 others, and displaced over two million Palestinians.
UN experts, independent bodies, rights and aid groups, and genocide scholars have concluded that Israel has committed genocide in the Gaza Strip. Similarly, the International Court of Justice has ordered Israel to take steps to prevent acts of genocide.
Beyond direct violence, thousands of excess deaths have been attributed to starvation, cold, and the collapse of the healthcare system.
In August 2025, the UN declared famine in Gaza due to the Israeli blockade of the strip.
At least 25 children were reported to have died from malnutrition in early March 2026 alone.
