Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi
In a post on his official Facebook page, the Egyptian president praised the “determination and dedication” of diplomats, saying their work continues to safeguard Egypt’s interests and strengthen its regional and international standing.
“This year's celebration marks the bicentenary of the founding of the first modern institution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This historical juncture embodies a lasting national legacy of diplomatic efforts that have bolstered Egypt’s standing worldwide,” El-Sisi wrote.
Egypt marks Diplomacy Day on 15 March each year to commemorate the re-establishment of the foreign ministry in 1922 following the country’s independence from Britain.
Separately, the foreign ministry announced the launch of a series of documentary films highlighting the careers of prominent Egyptian diplomats and their contributions to the country’s diplomatic work.
According to the ministry, the films will focus on figures who played key roles in defending Egypt’s interests in regional and international forums.
