The two sides were originally scheduled to meet on March 26 in Qatar, but the match was moved due to the ongoing Middle East conflict affecting the region.
“The Egyptian Football Association reached an agreement with its Saudi counterpart concerning a friendly between the two national teams on March 27 in Jeddah,” the EFA said in a statement on its official website. “The game is part of both teams’ preparations for this summer’s World Cup.”
Earlier on Sunday, the organizers of Qatar’s Football Festival officially cancelled the event, which included six games, citing regional tensions. Egypt had been scheduled to play Spain on March 30 as part of the cancelled fixtures.
Egypt, known as the Pharaohs, were drawn in Group G for the 2026 World Cup alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
