Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati President Mohamed bin Zayed discussed the “continued and blatant Iranian attacks” on Gulf states and their impact on regional security in a call on Monday.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the two leaders reviewed recent developments in the region and their implications for security and stability.

During the call, they said the ongoing Iranian attacks against Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries represent a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability, SPA reported.

They emphasized that GCC states will continue to exert all efforts to defend their territories and mobilize all available capabilities to support regional security and preserve stability, it added.

“Both sides stressed the need for the immediate cessation of military escalation… underscoring the importance of prioritizing serious dialogue and diplomatic means,” according to a statement published by Emirati WAM news agency.

Iran has launched over 1,900 missiles and drones at the United Arab Emirates, more than any other country targeted by Tehran since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran, disrupting travel in the financial hub despite most projectiles being intercepted by air defences.

The attacks have targeted both US assets and civilian infrastructure, including landmarks, airports, ports, and oil facilities across the Gulf, following US-Israeli strikes that decimated Iranian leadership.

Last week, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution, backed by 13 of 15 members and co-sponsored by 135 countries, condemning Iran’s attacks and demanding an immediate halt to hostilities.
