FM Badr Abdelatty briefed President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Tuesday on the outcomes of his Arab tour, which included Qatar, the UAE, Oman, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, as well as his high-level meetings in those countries.
According to a statement by the Egyptian presidency, the tour aimed to strengthen coordination and consultation between Egypt, Gulf countries, and other Arab states on rapidly changing regional developments and to convey a message of support and solidarity.
President El-Sisi reaffirmed the importance of joint efforts to de-escalate tensions and prioritize the diplomatic path to achieve regional peace and security.
He also reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of attacks on Arab countries and expressed Cairo’s full solidarity with Arab states at the leadership, government, and public levels in facing current security challenges.
The war in the Middle East, now in its third week, is escalating, with the US and Israel intensifying attacks on Iran, and Tehran continues retaliatory strikes against US and Israeli military presence across the Gulf region.
On Friday, El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s unequivocal condemnation and rejection of Iran’s targeting of Gulf states, Jordan, and Iraq, expressing hope for respect for good neighbourly relations and an immediate halt to the attacks.
During a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s concern over the escalation and its negative impact on regional stability and the well-being of the region's people.
