Founded by Director Hassan Al Geretly over 35 years ago, El-Warsha, Egypt’s first independent theatre troupe, has been focused on authentic Egyptian songs from the twenties, heritage songs, and the art of storytelling and siyra.

The event, organized by Qahrawya Cultural Tours, was set on the rooftop of House Number 4 in Darb Al Labana, a historic district that holds the Rifaai and Sultan Hassan mosques, as well as the House of Architecture.

Khan Sediqa is a 20th-century three-story building that belonged to the grandmother of Azza Abdel Azziz. The house has its own mausoleum of Sheikh Al-Sharif Al-Mahdi, and due to its unique place, has witnessed countless Sufi mulids of Al-Rifaai.

The evening whirled to the music of El-Warsha’s musician Maged Soliman, as El-Warsha artists Rehab Khalaf, Samia Jaheen, Mohamed Shaarawy, Norhan Adly, Ali Abdel Latif, Bahaa Tolba, and Haitham Ibrahim performed songs and heritage stories.
