Speaking at an iftar with journalists and diplomatic editors, Abdelatty said Egypt’s approach is guided by “firm principles,” including rejecting attacks on fellow Arab states and working to de-escalate conflict while preserving regional stability, saying that "the Middle East region is on the brink of explosion."

He noted that President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi had spoken with his Iranian counterpart and maintained ongoing contacts with leaders in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain, emphasizing that diplomatic channels remain active amid the crisis.

“From the first hour, Egypt condemned any strikes targeting a sisterly state,” Abdelatty said, describing the response as consistent policy. He added that Cairo has coordinated closely with Jordan and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and engaged in international forums to mitigate the escalation’s impact.

Abdelatty highlighted the importance of freedom of navigation in the Suez Canal, the Bab El-Mandeb Strait, and the Strait of Hormuz, warning that any disruption could have serious global economic consequences.

He outlined two main objectives: securing an immediate halt to attacks on allied states and containing the escalation to prevent a wider regional conflict.

Egypt continues to liaise with the United States while coordinating positions with Arab partners, he said.

The foreign minister also reaffirmed Egypt’s focus on its broader regional priorities, including the Palestinian cause and humanitarian efforts in Sudan, stressing that ongoing diplomacy aims to protect Arab national security and prevent further instability.

FM Abdelatty’s remarks come on the day of his return from a tour of Gulf countries and Jordan to reaffirm Cairo's support for the sovereignty and security of brotherly nations in the face of regional attacks.

In recent days, President El-Sisi has held calls with Gulf and Arab leaders, stressing that Gulf security is integral to Egypt’s national security and urging stronger collective coordination.

Egyptian officials have also warned about misleading narratives circulating on Arabic-language social media, including unverified claims questioning Cairo’s support for regional partners.

In tandem, Several Egyptian mainstream commentators and talk show hosts have charged that many social media posts have spread fabricated or out-of-context statements on the state of the relationship between Egypt and its Arab brotherly nations.

FM Abdelatty urged the public to rely on official statements as the authoritative source on Egypt’s positions.
