FM Abdelatty made the remarks during a Ramadan iftar attended by heads of media authorities and institutions, editors-in-chief of newspapers, leading thinkers, journalists, and prominent media figures.
The foreign minister also emphasized the ministry’s commitment to maintaining continuous and constructive communication with media organizations to strengthen Egypt’s standing regionally and globally.
According to the Egyptian foreign ministry, the gathering included an interactive dialogue on developments in several regional issues.
FM Abdelatty outlined Egypt’s key diplomatic efforts, highlighting its role in supporting regional and international security and stability.
He explained the principles guiding Egyptian foreign policy, including preserving regional security, promoting political and diplomatic solutions to crises, and protecting the resources and institutions of states.
Addressing developments in the Middle East, Abdelatty discussed his recent Arab-Gulf tour, which included Qatar, the UAE, Oman, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, conducted under presidential directives.
He said the tour reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the Gulf states and Jordan and reflected the strength of historical and fraternal ties.
He condemned Iranian attacks on Arab territories, stressing that violations of any Arab country’s sovereignty directly threaten Egyptian and Arab national security.
Abdelatty warned of the serious consequences of escalating military conflict and called for de-escalation, diplomacy, and dialogue to prevent the region from descending into broader conflict. He also stressed the importance of post-war regional arrangements to safeguard Arab security.
On Gaza, FM Abdelatty addressed the humanitarian crisis in the strip, emphasizing Egypt's support for early recovery, reconstruction, and efforts aimed at easing the catastrophic humanitarian conditions.
He highlighted the need to empower the National Committee for Gaza’s Administration as a step toward enabling the Palestinian Authority to fully manage its responsibilities in both Gaza and the West Bank.
On Lebanon, he condemned the repeated Israeli attacks and incursions into Lebanese territories, calling for an immediate halt to these violations.
He also reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanese state institutions in maintaining authority over the entire territory and its rejection of any infringement on Lebanon’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
Regarding Sudan, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to undermine the country’s unity or sovereignty, stressing the need for a humanitarian truce, support for national institutions, and intensified international efforts to deliver aid across all regions.
