The 33-year-old reached the historic milestone during the Reds’ round of 16 second leg against Turkish giants Galatasaray at Anfield on Wednesday.
Despite having earlier missed a chance to reach the mark from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, he made no mistake in the 62nd minute, after providing the assist for Hugo Ekitiké's 51st-minute goal.
Combining sharply with Florian Wirtz, Salah curled a sublime effort into the top corner to lift the score to 4-0, sending the home crowd into raptures and securing Liverpool’s place in the quarter-finals.
Salah’s journey to the half-century has been defined by remarkable consistency across his spells with Basel, Roma, and Liverpool, with the Merseyside club accounting for the vast majority of his European haul.
The Egyptian is now the 12th player in history to score 50 or more goals in the competition, as his tally comprises 47 goals for the Reds, two for Swiss side Basel, and one during his tenure with Italy’s Roma.
The goal further solidifies Salah's status as Africa’s most prolific representative in European football, having now surpassed the tallies of legendary strikers Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o.
So far this season, Salah has been in shaky form for the Reds, registering 10 goals and nine assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
