The Kuwaiti fire force said the fire at the oil refinery resulted from an Iranian drone attack.

There was no immediate information about the extent of damage and no immediate injuries from the attack.

Mina Al-Ahmadi, one of three oil refineries in Kuwait and processes some 730,000 barrels of oil per day, was also hit on Thursday, sparking fires.

On Wednesday, Iran reportedly carried out drone and missile attacks on major energy hubs in Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia in retaliation for an Israeli airstrike against the Pars gas field, which is shared with Qatar and draws on the world's biggest known gas reserve and is vital for domestic supplies.

The Kuwait Petroleum Corp. said it shut down the Mina Al-Ahmadi units affected by the attack.

Gulf countries have continued to report drone attacks targeting their nations.

The UAE’s defence ministry said it intercepted four ballistic missiles and 26 drones coming from Iran, while Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry said it intercepted and destroyed drones over its eastern region this morning.

The Bahrain Defence Force said in a social media post this morning that it has intercepted and destroyed 141 missiles and 242 drones from Tehran since the start of the US-Israeli war on Iran on 28 February.
