Salah picked up a knock during Liverpool’s midweek UEFA Champions League victory over Galatasaray, with Slot confirming the forward will be unavailable for this weekend and the international break.
“The good thing for Liverpool is we go into the international break, but it is bad news for Egypt — he cannot go there,” Slot said, describing the injury as unusual.
The Liverpool manager expressed hope that Salah could return swiftly, potentially in time for the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City following the break.
“He takes such good care of his body that he can be back earlier than others, as history has shown. There are only two weeks until we go again,” Slot added.
Salah’s absence is a significant blow for Egypt, with the 33-year-old set to miss scheduled internationals against Saudi Arabia and Spain.
Despite the setback, Slot praised Salah’s performance against Galatasaray, highlighting his experience and mental strength after contributing a goal and an assist.
“It says a lot about his mental strength… he has always done this so well in his career,” he said.
