The Egyptian side enter the second leg of the quarter-final with a slight advantage, having secured a 1-1 draw in Rabat last Friday.
Mahmoud Zalaka’s 52nd-minute equaliser cancelled out an early strike from Ahmed Hammoudan, leaving the tie finely poised.
The reigning champions’ Croatian coach, Krunoslav Jurčić, has warned his players against complacency, insisting that Pyramids FC will play for a win to avoid any late drama.
"We must approach the second leg as if the scoreline is still 0-0. We have to win to progress to the semi-finals of this continental competition," Jurčić told the pre-match news conference on Friday.
The 54-year-old expressed his frustration with a congested fixture list domestically and continentally.
"We must exert more effort to secure the win and continue our journey with full strength until the end. The team are suffering from extreme pressure due to playing consecutive matches," Jurčić said.
"AS FAR are a well-organised team with high tactical discipline. We must remain focused for the full 90 minutes," the Croat added.
In a double blow to the Egyptian side, Pyramids FC will have to navigate the clash without influential Moroccan midfielder Walid El-Karti, who remains sidelined with an injury, as well as left-back Mohamed Hamdi, who sustained a knock in domestic play.
Meanwhile, AS FAR, are chasing their first continental semi-final appearance in years, hoping to evoke the spirit of their 1985 Champions League triumph.
They also will be seeking revenge for being eliminated at the hands of Pyramids FC at the same stage in last season’s competition following a 4-1 first-leg defeat in Cairo and a 2-0 win in Rabat.
The Moroccan side’s Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos has been boosted with the return of captain Mohamed Rabie Hrimat, who missed the first leg through suspension.
However, duo Nolan Mbemba and Taoufik Razko, who missed the first leg through injury, remain uncertain for the second leg.
AS FAR will be missing key midfielder Rabie Harimat and goalkeeper Ayoub El Khayati, though the return of experienced keeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti provides a significant lift to their defensive line.
The winner of this tie will face either Morocco’s RS Berkane or Sudan’s Al-Hilal in the semi-finals, with their quarters first leg also ending in a 1-1 draw.
