The Port Said-based club were dealt a frustrating blow during the first leg at the New Suez Stadium last Saturday.
After taking a well-deserved lead in the 55th minute through a penalty calmly converted by striker Salah Mohsen, the Green Eagles conceded a heart-breaking stoppage-time equaliser to Lotfi Boussouar, leaving the tie finely balanced at 1-1.
Masry need a victory to guarantee progress, while a high-scoring draw would also send them through, while another 1-1 result would force extra time.
The Green Eagles’ Tunisian coach Nabil Kouki insisted his side remain capable of reaching the semi-finals despite the difficult away assignment.
"We put in a strong performance in the first leg, even if the result was not theoretically in our favour," Kouki said during the pre-match press conference on Friday.
"In recent training sessions, we have focused on fixing our mistakes and capitalising on our chances in front of goal," he added.
The 56-year-old tactician also highlighted the challenge of playing in Algeria.
“We know how strong CR Belouizdad are at home and in front of their supporters. Focus will make the difference. We can score away, and qualification remains open,” he added.
Masry received a timely boost with defender Baher El Mohamady declared fit after recovering from injury.
The Port Said-based side will aim to improve on last season’s quarter‑final exit to Tanzania's Simba in penalty shootout, and emulate their 2018 run to the last four.
Belouizdad, on the other hand, will aim to capitalize on their home record and the psychological boost of a 1-1 draw.
The Algerians have not lost at home in six games, winning five of them, and boast a formidable attack that has scored 11 goals in their last five matches in the competition.
The hosts have received a timely boost ahead of the game with the return of key player Noufel Khassif after the left-back missed the first leg due to fitness issues.
The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to face either Egyptian side Zamalek or Congo’s Otoho in the final four.
