The Cairo giants battled to a 1-1 away draw against the Congolese side in the first leg of the quarter-finals last Saturday, leaving the tie finely poised ahead of Sunday’s return leg in Cairo.
“Things are in our favor on paper, but we shouldn’t depend on the first leg result, especially as we will be facing a strong opponent,” 53-year-old Gamal said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
“We will start the game strongly to make our mission easier,” he added.
Gamal stressed that his team prepared well for Sunday’s game, hailing the impact of the club fans in the stands.
“We prepared on the best way and I hope to look in our best shape to make our fans proud,” the coach said.
“We played a friendly game the helped to asses our players who just returned from injuries. Zamalek fans means a lot to me and I feel calm with their presence in the stands. I hope to please them tomorrow,” he concluded.
The winner of Sunday’s game will be facing the winner between Algeria’s CR Belouizdad and Egypt’s Masry in the prestigious tournament's semi-final.
