The Egyptian side went into the match with a slight advantage following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Rabat last week.

Reda Slim opened the scoring in the ninth minute to give AS FAR an early lead, before midfielder Mohamed Rabie Hrimat doubled the advantage in the 54th minute to put the visitors in control.

Fiston Mayele pulled one back in the 64th minute to keep Pyramids FC’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive.

AS FAR began with high pressure on Pyramids FC’s defence and took the lead through a well-taken right-footed strike by Slim from inside the area.

Pyramids appealed for a penalty in the 37th minute, but after a VAR review the referee waved play on.

The visitors maintained their intensity after the break and extended their lead nine minutes into the second half when Hrimat headed into the net.

Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurcic responded with substitutions, introducing Odeh Fakhoury and Mostafa Fathy in place of Mahmoud Zalaka and Ahmed Atef.

The hosts pulled one back in the 64th minute when Mayele headed home to revive their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.

Despite increased pressure from Pyramids, AS FAR’s defence held firm to deny the hosts an equaliser.

Jurcic made further changes, bringing on Mostafa Ziko and Karim Hafez in an attempt to force a comeback, but the Moroccan side saw out the result.

AS FAR advanced 3-2 on aggregate and will face either RS Berkane of Morocco or Sudan’s Al-Hilal in the semi-finals after their quarter-final tie ended 1-1 in the first leg.
