According to The Times of Israel, medics were dispatched following reports of missile impacts in Arad, with initial uncertainty over whether the damage was caused by a direct strike, cluster munitions, or debris from interceptions.
Israel’s ambulance service, Magen David Adom, revealed that 64 people are wounded, including seven in serious condition, 15 moderately wounded, and 42 others with light injuries. The service said it was continuing to scan the scene for additional casualties, with dozens of ambulances and helicopters, including those operated in coordination with the Israeli Air Force, transporting victims to hospitals.
Israel’s firefighting service said the missile struck the city centre in a “direct hit” between residential buildings, causing “extensive damage” at the site.
The Arad strike came as part of a broader series of Iranian missile launches targeting southern Israel. Earlier, the Israeli military detected additional ballistic missile attacks heading toward the country, triggering sirens in multiple areas.
Further south, another missile targeted the Red Sea city of Eilat, where sirens sounded but no injuries were reported. The strike on Eilat marked the sixth Iranian attack on Israel within the same day.
Earlier in the day, an Iranian missile strike on the nearby Israeli city of Dimona injuring at least another 30, according to Israeli media. Iran said the attack was aimed at Israel’s nuclear research centre near Dimona, located about 10 kilometres from the city and roughly 30 kilometres from Arad.
The series of attacks comes after the United States and Israel struck Iran's Natanz nuclear facility, nearly 220 kilometres (135 miles) southeast of Tehran earlier in the day.
