In a statement, the ministry said Riyadh “renews its condemnation of the Iranian attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and a number of Arab and Islamic countries,” describing them as unacceptable escalations.
It added that Iran’s continued targeting of the kingdom’s sovereignty, civilian infrastructure and economic interests “constitutes a blatant violation of all relevant international conventions,” as well as principles of good neighbourliness and respect for state sovereignty.
As a result, the “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has informed the military attaché at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, his assistant, and three members of the embassy staff, that they are persona non grata.”
“They must leave the Kingdom within 24 hours,” the statement added.
On Thursday, Qatar made a similar move by asking the Iranian military and security attachés to leave Doha as persona non grata within 24 hours after a drone and ballistic attack earlier on Wednesday on Ras Laffan Industrial City, the largest facility for treatment and liquefaction of natural gas in the country and the world.
Iranian attacks, provoked by the unilateral war started by the United States and Israel in February, have targeted American and Israeli interests across all 6 Gulf Cooperation Council member countries.
