Founded as an independent civil society organization, FDHRD works on promoting human rights, supporting development initiatives, and engaging with international mechanisms, particularly within the United Nations system. It has been active in monitoring human rights developments, providing policy recommendations, and participating in international forums to advocate for the protection of fundamental rights.
During the session, the Forum’s representative, Mr. Saeed Abdelhafiz, delivered an official statement expressing deep concern over the recent escalation, warning of its grave consequences for civilians and vital infrastructure, particularly energy facilities, and stressing that such actions constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law. The Forum underscored before representatives of the international community that the continuation of hostilities would undermine fundamental rights, foremost among them the right to life, security, and safety, while further exacerbating the suffering of peoples across the region and threatening regional stability.
The Forum called on all parties to assume their responsibilities in protecting human rights, to fully comply with international humanitarian law, and to refrain from targeting civilians and vital infrastructure. It also demanded an immediate cessation of all hostilities by all parties, particularly those affecting civilians and critical infrastructure, emphasizing that such a step is essential to preserving international peace and security.
The Forum affirmed that its participation in this session comes within the framework of its ongoing role in supporting human rights issues at the international level and contributing to the promotion of dialogue and cooperation aimed at protecting civilians and ensuring respect for international law.
