The talks focused on the escalating situation due to the US-Israeli war on Iran and ways to prevent further deterioration, according to Egypt’s foreign ministry.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s support for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and condemned recent attacks targeting Gulf states, including an incident in Bahrain. He said their security is closely tied to Egypt’s own.

He called for de-escalation and stronger regional coordination to prevent the conflict from widening, warning of broader risks to regional and international security.

The discussions also addressed maritime security, with Abdelatty stressing the need to protect key shipping routes and ensure stability in the Red Sea.

He said coordination among Red Sea littoral states was essential and rejected any external role in managing the waterway, reiterating Egypt’s longstanding position on the issue to support regional stability and protect global trade flows.
