The shipment was handed over to Ghana’s Ministry of Health in a ceremony attended by Egypt’s ambassador to Accra, Wael Fathi, along with Ghanaian officials, members of parliament, representatives of medical institutions, the World Health Organization (WHO), and local media.
During the event, Fathi said the move reflects Egypt’s efforts to support public health systems across the continent and share its experience in combating Hepatitis C. He referred to Egypt’s national campaign against the disease, launched by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, noting that the country was declared free of Hepatitis C by the WHO.
Ghana’s deputy health minister, Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, said the delivery marks the third batch of medical aid sent by Egypt to help curb the spread of the disease, expressing appreciation for Cairo’s continued support.
She also highlighted broader cooperation between the two countries in the health sector, aimed at strengthening Ghana’s healthcare system.
