Defence lawyer Abdelaziz Ezzeddine, representing the victims, said the military court issued the ruling unanimously after consulting the grand mufti, as required by Egyptian law in capital punishment cases.
The first, second, third, and sixth defendants were sentenced to death; the fourth and fifth were acquitted.
The case began after the Public Prosecution received a report on the abduction and sexual assault of five kindergarten children at Seeds International School in Cairo’s Al-Salam district. Police were first notified on 20 November 2025.
Prosecutors heard testimonies from the child victims and their families, ensuring confidentiality in line with legal provisions protecting minors.
During identification procedures, the children recognized three of the defendants, and the process was recorded.
A specialist report confirmed the children had been sexually assaulted, and the Child Helpline was notified.
Prosecutors also obtained detailed confessions from two of the accused, who admitted committing the crimes with others over an extended period, taking advantage of the children’s young age and vulnerability.
A prosecution team conducted an on-site inspection with the victims and recovered a knife allegedly used to threaten the children, along with other physical evidence. The crime reconstruction was also documented.
Authorities seized the defendants’ mobile phones, collecting digital evidence that supported the charges. Testimonies from school staff were also collected to determine responsibilities and supervision mechanisms.
After the investigation was completed, the defendants were referred to trial, which led to Wednesday’s verdict.
