The Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) in Dokki hosted the third edition of its monthly cultural initiative, Ahlan Korea, spotlighting the historic city of Andong, widely known as the “Capital of Korean Spiritual Culture” and a leading centre for traditions, history, and folklore. The event brought together Korea.net Honorary Reporters for an immersive cultural experience that highlighted Andong’s rich heritage and UNESCO-recognized traditions.
Korea.net Honorary Reporters are volunteer content creators and cultural ambassadors who contribute articles, photos, and multimedia content to promote Korean culture worldwide. Through their storytelling, they play an important role in promoting Korea’s traditions, lifestyle, and contemporary culture.
The programme opened with an introduction to Andong, featuring a promotional video screening and a presentation showcasing the city’s identity, traditional customs, festive cuisine, and deep-rooted cultural legacy.
The event also featured a variety of hands-on cultural activities. Participants had the opportunity to try on traditional Korean attire, hanbok, and take part in a mask-making session inspired by Andong’s renowned mask dance culture, known for its expressive storytelling and historical significance.
In addition, attendees enjoyed a Korean food experience highlighting some of the country’s most representative dishes, offering further insight into Korea’s rich culinary traditions.
Oh Sung-ho, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Korea.net Honorary Reporters in promoting Korean culture in Egypt. He commended their role in fostering cultural exchange and enhancing mutual understanding, noting that their contributions help strengthen people-to-people connections and deepen cultural ties between the two countries.
