"Around 2:00 PM (1030 GMT) today, Isfahan University of Technology was targeted for the second time (during the war) by a brutal airstrike of Zionist-American aggressors," the university said in a statement carried by Fars news agency.
"According to initial reports, the attack on one of the university's research institutes also caused damage to several other buildings and resulted in minor injuries to four university staff members," it added.
Earlier, on Saturday, Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, condemned the first strikes by the United States and Israel to target Iranian universities and research centers amid the ongoing conflict, saying they were "deliberate" in nature.
In a statement on X, Baqaei said institutions such as Isfahan University of Technology and Iran University of Science and Technology had been targeted over the past month, explaining that the attacks were intended to “cripple our country’s scientific foundation and cultural heritage.”
The spokesperson dismissed allegations about Iran’s nuclear program as “vicious pretexts” and “mere fabrications,” asserting in response to the attacks that Israeli and US universities in the region are now "legitimate targets."
In a separate attack, five people were injured when American and Israeli forces struck a residential area in Karaj, west of Tehran, Iranian officials said, in one of the latest attacks targeting civilian areas.
Meanwhile, Iran's energy ministry reported power outages in Tehran, its surrounding region, and neighbouring Alborz province on Sunday "following attacks on electricity industry facilities".
It said "electricity was cut off in these areas, and efforts are being made to resolve the problem", according to state television.
US President Donald Trump has previously threatened to strike Iranian power stations if Tehran does not negotiate a peace deal, before repeatedly extending a deadline to do so.
The Israeli army announced earlier in the evening it had launched new strikes on targets across Tehran, after it had detected seven new incoming missile salvoes fired from Iran during the day.
