Egypt’s foreign ministry said on Monday it had repatriated the bodies of 10 Egyptian nationals who died in Kuwait in recent days due to natural and medical causes, and arranged the return of 319 others to Cairo, as part of ongoing consular efforts to support citizens abroad.

The bodies were flown to Egypt on a chartered flight after the ministry completed procedures related to their transfer, according to a foreign ministry statement.

In parallel, the ministry coordinated the return of 319 Egyptians who had violated residency regulations in Kuwait and were later released, transporting them by air to Cairo.

Ambassador Haddad El-Gohary, assistant foreign minister for consular affairs, said Cairo continues to work with relevant authorities to address the situation of Egyptians in Kuwait, highlighting “close and effective coordination” with Kuwaiti and Saudi officials.

That coordination also facilitated the entry of thousands of stranded Egyptians in Kuwait into Saudi Arabia through land border crossings between the two countries, he added.

The efforts come as Egypt ramps up crisis-response measures for its citizens abroad amid the ongoing regional conflict that has disrupted air travel and forced evacuations through alternative routes.

El-Gohary said earlier that some Egyptians had been evacuated from Iran via Armenia, stressing that no fatalities or injuries among Egyptian nationals had been reported across the Gulf and Mashreq despite the escalation.

He added that a dedicated task force is holding daily coordination meetings with embassies and consulates, while emergency transit visas have enabled thousands of stranded Egyptians to travel through countries such as Oman and Jordan to return home.

The conflict has triggered one of the region’s largest air travel disruptions in years, with multiple countries closing airspace and relying on land corridors through transit hubs including Armenia, Turkey, and Jordan, as governments work to evacuate their nationals.
