The Pharaohs will be hosted by La Roja at the RCDE Stadium, home of Espanyol, amid preparations for the anticipated FIFA 2026 World Cup.
“The Spain game is a big event for us, and it will be helpful at the interaction and experience levels with a European champion,” the former Egypt defender Hassan said on the Sport TV channel late on Sunday.
“We are eying getting the most benefit of Spain game to prepare for the World Cup; the same thing that we will do when we face Brazil in a friendly next June,” he added.
The seven-time African champions, Egypt, began their preparations for the prestigious tournament emphatically, defeating Saudi Arabia 4-0 in a friendly test at Jeddah’s Alinma Stadium on Friday.
The game against Spain, the top-ranked team in the latest FIFA ranking, is the second and last in the preparatory camp of the Pharaohs, ranked 29, under coach Hossam Hassan this month.
The Egyptian team will also face Brazil in a friendly test on 6 June in the USA, and, according to the team's director, another test is on the way.
“We are trying hard to reach an agreement to play another friendly at our New Capital Stadium before travelling to the US for the World Cup,” explained Ibrahim Hassan.
“We should play friendly games against strong teams to ease any fear among the players ahead of facing top ranked teams in the USA finals,” he concluded.
Egypt have been drawn in Group G of the 2026 World Cup finals alongside Iran, New Zealand, and Belgium.
The tournament will be held in the United States and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July.
