Egypt on Monday condemned in the strongest terms the heinous attacks targeting a military camp and key power infrastructure in Kuwait that left Kuwaiti armed forces personnel injured, warning the incidents mark a serious escalation threatening regional stability, the foreign ministry said.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions, with Cairo describing the strikes as a violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and international law, while reaffirming support for Gulf security and collective stability.

“These unacceptable, and unjustified attacks constitute a blatant violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty and a clear breach of the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter,” the statement said, warning of “a dangerous escalation that threatens regional peace and security at this critical juncture.”

Egypt stressed its “full solidarity” with Kuwait and other Gulf countries in confronting Iranian attacks, affirming support for “all measures and actions” taken by Kuwaiti authorities to protect national security, preserve sovereignty, and safeguard territory and national resources.

Separately, Kuwaiti authorities said on Monday that a service building at a power generation and water distillation facility was attacked on Sunday, resulting in the death of an Indian national and causing extensive material damage.

Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, spokesperson for Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, said technical and emergency teams responded immediately in line with approved contingency plans to contain the impact of the incident and maintain operational efficiency.

She added that specialized teams were working in parallel, in full coordination with security agencies and relevant authorities, to secure affected sites and monitor developments.

Hayat urged the public to remain calm and avoid rumours, calling on citizens to rely on official sources for accurate information, and said the ministry would continue to provide updates transparently.

She stressed that ensuring the safety and stability of Kuwait’s electricity and water systems remains a top priority, noting that technical teams are operating around the clock to respond to emergencies and guarantee the uninterrupted delivery of essential services.

The attack comes amid a sharp escalation in regional tensions following ongoing military exchanges involving Iran and its adversaries, which have raised concerns over the security of critical infrastructure across the Gulf. Energy facilities, desalination plants, and military installations are considered high-value targets given their central role in sustaining both civilian life and national security in Gulf states.

Kuwait, like other Gulf countries, relies heavily on integrated power and water desalination systems, making any disruption potentially significant for essential services.

Authorities have, in recent years, strengthened contingency planning and emergency response mechanisms to ensure operational continuity in the event of attacks or technical disruptions.

Egypt has repeatedly warned against further escalation in the region, stressing the need for de-escalation and diplomatic solutions to avoid broader conflict that could destabilize energy markets, disrupt supply chains, and undermine regional security.

Cairo maintains close political and security coordination with Gulf states, including Kuwait, as part of its broader approach to safeguarding Arab national security.
