The Pharaohs held their defensive shape despite playing the final 12 minutes with 10 men following defender Hamdy Fathy’s sending off for a second yellow card.
“It was a very difficult game, but we did our best to secure a positive result against top-ranked Spain,” Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir told a television programme after the match.
Defender Yasser Ibrahim praised his teammates’ performance, saying the team deserved the result.
“We followed the coach’s tactics to block the defensive areas, and we succeeded in drawing against the best team in the world,” Ibrahim said. “We achieved a positive result for us.”
Midfielder Marwan Attia also lauded the team’s display and promised to build on it in future matches.
“We played a strong game against the best players in the world,” Attia said. “We faced a big team like Spain and earned a well-deserved positive result.”
Egypt will conclude their World Cup preparations with a friendly against Brazil in June.
They have been drawn in Group G for the 2026 finals alongside Iran, New Zealand, and Belgium. The tournament will take place in the United States and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July.
